cooking 101: thai-style sweet and spicy pork

Monday, March 18, 2013tee

I got this recipe from our friend Nanie, and let me just say that the recipe is a two-thumbs up! It reminds me of restaurant-level Thai food, only this was home-cooked and so easy to do as well!

  • 1 lb. lean pork (you can use shrimps or chicken as well)
  • 2 tsp. minced garlic
  • 3 tsp. minced ginger
  • 1 tbsp. sugar
  • 2 tsp. soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp. tomato catsup
  • 2 tsp. chopped birds eye chili
  • 2 tsp. sherry cooking wine (optional)
  • 1 tbsp. cooking oil
  • 2 tbsp. scallions, chopped
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • Combine soy sauce, catsup, sugar, and sherry. Mix and set aside.
  • Heat oil in a pan. Add ginger and garlic. Cook for 20-30 secs or until golden brown.
  • Put in meat and stir-fry for 1-2 minutes.
  • Pour in the catsup mixture, scallions, and chili. Stir-fry for another 2-5 minutes.
  • Add salt and pepper to taste.
  • Serve.
