Yarra Valley Food Trip

Saturday, December 27, 2014tee

Before we knew it, we've hit the 2-year mark! Happy, happy anniversary to us, J! I am so thankful and blessed to have a God-fearing, loving, supportive hubster and I look forward to the years ahead. :)

The past few days have passed us by so fast, in between preparing for the baby and moving to a new place, our dates have been trips to furniture shops, houseware stores and baby shops. Nevertheless, we agreed to take a breather once in a while and enjoy the holidays/vacation and spend time with each other.

As the doctor told me I can only go as far as 1-hr from the hospital, it was a challenge looking for places to go to. I wanted to go for longer drives before me and the belly becomes too huge, but nah, maybe next time with the bub in tow. Thankfully, the Yarra Valley is just within reach, so we went to the Yarra on a sunny summer's day.

Since Yarra Valley is known for wineries and good food, we decided to turn the road-trip to a foodie adventure instead.

GIANT STEPS/INNOCENT BYSTANDER
336 Maroondah Hwy Healesville VIC 3777

First stop, Giant Steps/Innocent Bystander for late lunch, Modern Aussie style. The cheese bar, wine cellar/wine tasting was calling out to me, I admit, but we'll be back. :) The food was good and worth the hour's wait to get a table. We had Brined + Roasted Chicken in oregano, lime and garlic and Grilled Brindaree Porterhouse. Note: do get a reservation. We risked the waiting list because we cannot get a booking online. Weekends, apparently, are busy days.

WHITE RABBIT
316 Maroondah Hwy Healesville VIC 3777

Right across Giant Steps/Innocent Bystander is the White Rabbit, a brewery.

YARRA VALLEY CHOCOLATERIE AND ICE CREMERY

35 Old Healesville Road (cnr Melba Highway)  Yarra Glen Victoria

Last stop is the Yarra Valley Chocolaterie and Ice Creamery. Ooh-la-la, chocolate heaven! Chocolates in every size and shape, Willy Wonka would be sooo proud! They offer free chocolate tasting too, and the cafe serves a variety of desserts and drinks. We had a very serene view of the valley in front of us, as we enjoyed our food and drinks.

It sure was a fun anniversary date with J. Hopefully, we get to explore and have more mini-trips soon.

There's still alot of Yarra Valley to see, hot air balloon rides to take, alot to taste and wineries to visit as well. We'll be back. :)

Lastly, since it's our anniversary anyway, allow me to be extra cheesy this time. I love this song and it makes me imagine us hand-in-hand when we're old and gray.
