Learning New Things

Tuesday, February 10, 2015tee

Almost 6 months in AU and I realized I have learned so much about myself these past few months that I am here. I have learned new valuable things too, and tried new things that I never thought of doing in the near future.

Firstly, rekindling the passion for seriously baking stuff from scratch.

Chocolate Chip Cookies

Oatmeal Cookies. Chocolate Cookies. Nutella Cookies.

Chocolate Cupcakes with Nutella frosting.

Christmas goodies. Chocolate Cupcakes with Salted Caramel frosting and Choco Oatmeal Cookies.

Next, trying to get creative digitally and with crafts. As one with zero-patience and zero-talent with creativity, I managed to surprise myself with this one. Seriously, I am that person who draws stick figures as people even as an adult. I am that person who was too lazy to make a video that I gave J a music file and a powerpoint presentation and told him to play the music while watching the presentation. Hah, that bad. And being a software engineer at that too, haha.

It all began with the little niece's first birthday party and I sort of got myself assigned to make the invitations and the printables. Lost and feeling desperation short to just to ahead and settle with googling free templates instead, I gave it a try and came up with these instead. Dainty, girly, cute. Just like our little girl.

Chalkboard-inspired printables gave a rustic feel, with hints of pastel colors to match the theme.

I made the AVPs too, so no more powerpoints and music files from now on I hope. haha. Stage-auntie, FTW! :))

Lastly, finally went ahead and purchased washi tapes because they were so cute. So cute that I thought I'd be content staring at then from time to time because let's admit it, I have no talent in the crafts department. Well except for some cross-stitching, maybe.

My first set of washi tapes. Not much but I feel more will be added to the collection soon.
It's so addicting!

Then I have some long overdue travel project to do and decided might as well use the tapes. So here we are, my first ever attempt at crafting with washi tapes! :) Even with my carpal-tunnel (wrist and joint pain and yep, another pregnancy perk), I had fun! It isn't as easy as others make it look like, but I am so happy with the output. Will be sharing some of my projects real soon.
My first ever washi project for a travel-related project that has been long overdue.

True, I am changing. I don't know where these new-found hobbies will take me, but I am happy that one's never too old to learn something and do something new. Nothing's really impossible when you're willing to learn and one shouldn't be restricted with the "I am not..." and "I cannot...". Unless it's me and surfing, because that seems pretty far-fetched right now.  And trust me, I tried.
