Baba Sus
15-17 Bardolph Street, Glen Iris, Melbourne

I love holidays. It's the perfect time to rest and take a breather, as well as time to catch-up with family and friends. Since our good friends L and K are in town for Christmas, it was a good time to meet and enjoy food, as we normally do. I was stumped on where to take them - and since it was Boxing Day, most cafes were closed or closed early. Baba Sus crossed my mind. Even after our first visit, I was raring to go, knowing that it would be another pleasant experience. We arrived at around 1PM and it took us about 20 minutes to get seated as it was a rather busy day. We didn't mind the wait, though.

You know the dish's special when it's named after the cafe. Immediately, L and I ordered the Baba Sus. The twice cooked pork belly was so good, it was perfectly cooked and I couldn't find fault with it. The carrot and ginger puree as well as the pickled apple salad was the perfect complement to it. The guys had the wagyu burger, and were very pleased with their orders. The coffee was nice, too. We didn't linger much as they closed early for that day, but it was a pleasant lunch. It would have been nice to have another go at their HK waffle, though.

After this visit, I loved how consistent Baba Sus proved to be, I'm certainly adding this cafe to my favourite go-to cafes.
